Actress, singer, TV host, muse, business woman … What is your priority?I am primarily an actress and singer. People perceive me differently perhaps, but this is basically what I am. This is the center of my career, the artistic part in me needs to speak and I do not let any of my other projects slow it down. But I would say that movies are still my No. 1 priority even if those last two years I haven’t worked on it as much. Life is long, I have time to do other films and to be honest, even if I am proud of the roles I’ve had so far, I feel that the best is in front of me.Have you had to fight against the stereotypes associated with your origins?Absolutely, only when I started playing in romantic comedies à la Meg Ryan people discovered other facets of my personality. The change came with the movie Anaconda, I played a documentary filmmaker, and the script gave no other indication. When I read the script, I was playing a Cuban maid in Blood and Wine, and I knew right away that things were changing for me. I finally felt accepted as a simple person, a woman with emotions, not a stereotype. Suddenly, I realized that I was finally able to play anyone in any role. And since then this has never changed. The couple that I play with Rodrigo Santoro in What to expect if you are expecting is never defined in terms of their origins.What is missing for you to feel fully accomplished?I do not really think in those terms. I just want to keep doing what I like! I like being productive, I like challenges; I like to work on my business. And I also like that they come to an end one day. For example, I’ll be the happiest person in the world when I finish my tour! Moreover, for now I haven’t signed for any other projects.
